Paul McGinley: Why the BMW PGA will continue to grow stronger

21 Dic Paul McGinley: Why the BMW PGA will continue to grow stronger

Paul McGinley reflects to consider at the BMW PGA Championship and looks at the requirements facing the players in the golf schedule.
When you’re one of the elite, best 50 in the world rankings you’ll be able to pick and choose the tournaments. It is a fantastic problem to have in several ways, although it’s demanding.
The end of the game is now at a place that is healthy, there’s little doubt about this. The program there are nearly certain to be players taking another course, and this season has been quite a bit different to previous years.
It was likely to take some time for the brand new, condensed program to bed , however I like the new structure. I am aware that it’s had its critics, however the important thing for me is the European Tour has a excellent opportunity to shine and attract world-class areas from September through to October.
It is going to be more year that is shaky together using also the Ryder Cup and the Olympics to take into consideration for the best players, but I think this year has worked out generally.
The players need to determine what works better for them. Although some perform better when they have taken time off some players enjoy playing a great deal of tournaments.
We’ve experienced The Players moving into mid-March, and the Masters was the first in a streak of one in every month in July, and now I believe that was a good thing for the golfing calendar.
It’s up to the Tour to make sure that November, October and September are excellent months to come including the four Rolex Series events we’ve got to come before the season’s end, with powerful fields in large events.
We have certainly had a turnout here and it had been great to watch Patrick Reed Tony Finau and Billy Horschel make the excursion to enjoy their debuts in the flagship event of the European Tour.
They have been impressed with the course and everything which accompanies this BMW PGA Championship, also I have no doubt that we will see a much more powerful American contingent forthcoming to Wentworth in September.
The date has gone with the gamers, and I’d expect to observe the area becoming stronger and stronger in years ahead. Finau, Reed and Horschel understand the history, in addition to the quality of the golf course .
Many have said they’ve not seen the golf course in better shape, and I would agree with this. The state of the course was excellent, some of the pins might have been a bit more difficult and though I would have liked to have seen the greens somewhat milder and provide the players a harder test.
Nonetheless, it’s been another hugely successful championship, enjoyed by both players and the fans alike, and we’ve got so much to look forward to over the final few weeks of the Tour .
